Part 3 of France’s digital health roadmap 2023-2027 is about making sure AI is ethical, regulated, and seamlessly integrated.
💡 Here are 4 key initiatives driving AI adoption in healthcare:
1️⃣ Ensuring ethical AI use
• Led by the Ministry of Health’s Digital Ethics Unit and the Agence du Numerique en Sante, France is making the use of AI in healthcare more responsible.
• In 2022, it published best practice recommendations for “ethics by design” to address: ethical values in software and hardware architecture & risk mitigation against AI’s inductive biases
• By 2025, a comprehensive AI ethics framework will be released, built on five core principles: benevolence, non-maleficence, autonomy, justice-equity, digital sobriety, and sustainable development.
• The framework will also cover AI transparency, user education, and bias mitigation, ensuring AI supports both healthcare professionals and patients responsibly.
2️⃣ Regulatory framework for AI-powered medical devices
• Implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act at national and EU levels (DGS, DNS, DGE, European Commission) to secure and facilitate access to AI-powered medical technologies.
3️⃣ Seamless integration of digital tools for healthcare professionals
• The Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) is embedding its guidelines into digital tools used daily by practitioners.
• Part of its 2025-2030 strategy to ensure AI and data-driven insights enhance medical practice. → read the full plan here: https://lnkd.in/esi-z5we
4️⃣ Regional AI innovation by health agencies (ARS)
• Mapping AI solutions: ARS Bretagne & Pays de la Loire have developed a regional AI panorama.
• Funding AI projects: ARS Ile-de-France is investing in AI for emergency diagnostics, while ARS Bourgogne-Franche-Comte supports AI-driven elderly care solutions.
